There are a wealth of household items that get used and re-used throughout the year, but mostly in the background. They’re not a staple of your tidying routine, though, and actually might actually be kinda filthy by now. Whether it’s been a week, a month or several years since you last took a close look at these things, read down the list and consider to yourself if these unsung heroes of your home need a deep clean (or a trip to the trash bin).

Kitchen

  • Sponge
  • Water filter
  • Liquor (most last a long time, but consider a sniff test)
  • Trash can
  • Stove top
  • Cutting boards
  • Salt & Pepper Shakers
  • Cloth shopping bags

Living Room & Entryway

  • Remote control
  • Doormat

Bedroom

  • Pillows
  • Hamper
