Name: Karla
Location: Tacoma, Washington
Type of Home: Single Family Home

Color Inspiration: First off, I LOVE a good, moody bedroom! A bedroom with bold color that wraps you up and makes you want to get cozy! I was inspired by the gorgeous use of gray found in current design magazines, but since we live in the rainy Pacific Northwest, I didn’t want…

Moody Blues

Color Inspiration continued: …to use a gray that would just mimic the color outside the window. I opted for “Templeton Gray” by Benjamin Moore which is much further on the blue/green side of the gray scale. My husband was skeptical when I started painting, but he’ll be the first one to tell you that taking the risk was worth it. It is an intense color, but the way that the light plays off the walls makes it come alive. We couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!

Colors Used: Templeton Gray – Benjamin Moore #HC-161

Contemplation – Behr #700E-3

Powdered Snow – Behr #W-D-700

Color Tip: Take the time to find the right color for your room! Bring lots of swatches home from the paint store, tape them on your walls and live with them for a few days. See how the sunrise and sunset change the colors. Narrow it down to the color that you love and don’t be afraid to go for it! You have to live there, so why not love the rooms you live in? Paint will give you the biggest bang for your buck, so have some fun with it!
