Run, Don’t Walk: IKEA’s Limited Edition Viktigt Collection
We have a (slightly overdramatic) prediction for Monday, May 23. We’re not talking doomsday prophecies, but an entirely different type of rapture: IKEA lovers rejoice(!), because the limited edition, entirely handmade Viktigt collection is being released and from the looks of the new no-frills-yet-ultra-chic line, we suspect things are going to go faster than the battery of a first-generation smartphone searching for cell service in an elevator.
To prepare for the mayhem release, we put together a shopping list of our top picks, from the beautiful and functional mouth-blown carafe with nesting glass to the black-and-cream rattan and bamboo chair that is conveniently stackable to take up less space when it’s not in use. Designed in collaboration with Ingegerd Råman, one of Scandinavia’s most well-known glass designers and ceramist, the result is sure to be a winner for IKEA. Scroll through to peruse our favorites.
The classic caning on the backrest of the black-on-black chair ($139) elevates its simple silhouette.
Pair the 22-inch pendant lamp shade ($34.99) with the 17-inch version ($24.99) at varying heights for a standout lighting installation that doubles as modern art.
Personally, we can never have enough baskets (they always end up filled with books, blankets, shoes and beyond). Even better, this iteration ($24.99) has a subtle ikat-like pattern that would add interest to any corner or nook.
We love this chair ($49) for more than its good looks: It’s also conveniently stackable so you have the option to store away when not in use for more floor space.
In design, less is often so much more. Case in point: This delicate carafe with nesting glass ($14.99); the simple beak-like spout keeps pouring tidy.
Always say yes to chic storage! We love the graphic print on this basket with lid ($9.99); use it to stash away crafting and office supplies, mail, paperwork, small toys…
