Back in the summer I visited the Vermont studio of artist Stacey Stanhope who creates organically-shaped ceramics decorated with illustrations of New England farm life. The dramatic pieces would be perfect for serving up a farm-raised Thanksgiving feast.
The pieces are salt-glazed which creates a textured surface and the designs are added with a wax-resist method that makes them look as if they were block printed. Stanhope set up her studio in a former Vermont farmhouse which also houses a small gallery of the work, which includes plates, bowls, mugs, tiles and even sinks.
