The furniture designs of Maine woodworker Jeff Lind may be based on traditional pieces, but we're fascinated by the way they also feel strange, Gothic, and almost alive.

The curved legs of the tables are animal-like and the pointed lines his Sam Maloof-style rocker are a bit alarming, but absolutely gorgeous. Lind custom designs each piece to order, and he says on his website:

For as many years as I've been making furniture, I still work alone. I take each piece from concept to its own degree of finish. To achieve the quality I'm looking for, I rely on tools and methods of joinery that are time-honored and respected as that of master practice. Each piece is signed and dated, having been built to last from one age to the next.
