Saadia isn’t afraid of color. She is one of those women who wear it often and wear it well. Knowing how to mix different styles, different styles and colors to create a look that is all her own, is polished and yet effortless.

Much like her home, which can be seen in her house tour, we see how she mixes and matches, choosing pieces she loves and making it all work together.

Saadia’s Style Profile:

Your very favorite outfit

Right now I’m loving this ASOS dress, but my all-time favorite is probably my wedding dress – cliché, but true!

The #1 item from your fashion wish list

It’s going to make me seem really basic, but I really would love to have a pair of classic Christian Louboutin pumps…

The tv or movie characters wardrobe(s) you’d steal in a minute

Olivia Pope from Scandal, Serena van der Woodsen from Gossip Girl, Mindy Lahiri from The Mindy Project, Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Diana Christiansen from Network.

Your best bargain find ever

I bought a Mulberry bag from a site called Poshmark for a great deal – it needed a few small repairs that they were able to do at the retail store and now it looks as good as new, for a fraction of the price.

3 things from your closet you couldn’t live without

1. Blank Denim destructed jeans – they are super soft and comfortable and can be dressed up or down easily.

2. J. Crew vintage cotton v-neck tee – again, super comfortable and versatile.

3. Proenza Schouler PS1 satchel in Midnight – I don’t splurge often on items – and this was a lot even though I bought it on a used site – but I really love it. It’s designed for an on-the-go New Yorker with its many pockets and cross body strap, the leather is buttery soft and the color is beautiful.

The item you no longer have but wish you did

I recently sold an H&M blanket coat that’s the ideal weight for chilly spring days – I was optimistic the weather would stay warm, but now I regret letting go of it!

Most fashionable friend and why

Liana Newton – she mixes edgy and elegant in such an effortlessly cool way and has a great eye for interesting and unusual pieces. She truly enjoys fashion and doesn’t take it too seriously, which I think is key!

Your typical work “uniform”

My jobs have varied in their level of formality – from the blazers, dresses and heels of TV news to the sneakers and jeans of nonprofits – but overall, my favorite work outfit is generally a classic J. Crew pencil skirt, an Equipment silk blouse and a pair of heels in a reasonable height – Tahari makes great work heels that are polished yet comfortable, though I always bring a pair of J. Crew
Cece flats for the subway.

Best fashion advice

My mom loves to overdress, she always says “if you’re feeling bad, put on a red dress and go get a cup of coffee.” While I don’t necessarily take her advice literally (red is not my color!), I do believe that, at least for me personally, I feel more confident when I’m dressed up – even if that just means adding some bright lipstick to jeans and a t-shirt.

Favorites:

IRL shop: Cos just opened a shop up in Soho that I love, though a dislike of crowds and general laziness have me doing almost all my shopping online.

Online shop: Piperlime – a good mix of brands, great sales and free shipping. They’re supposedly shutting down, which is such a shame!

Makeup brand: Makeup Forever.

Haircare brand: I love Kerastase and used to get a deal on it through a friend, but if I’m paying full price I’ll splurge on Living Proof or just buy L’Oreal from the drug store. I did try Wen for a while and really liked it, but the whole monthly subscription angle scared me off.

Best jeans: I’m tall and it’s hard to find jeans that are long enough, but I’ve been surprised to find that Old Navy carries tall sizes that are comfortable and look a lot like my more expensive brands – I have the Old Navy Rock Star jeans in more colors than I care to admit!

Coolest sneakers: I got a pair of Rebecca Minkoff calf hair slip-ons for a great deal on Piperlime that I have been living in this winter and spring – they’re super comfortable, but the calf hair and leather make them a little more sophisticated than your typical sneakers.

Signature scent: Philosykos by Diptyque – it’s a really lovely blend of fig and greenery.

Go to source for style inspiration: There’s no better inspiration than the stylish streets of New York, but online I also like Refinery 29 or Atlantic-Pacific.
