Interior designer Jasmine Espinoza has lived in this apartment building for 29 years, but has been in this small studio apartment for only two. “I actually grew up in this building. I had been looking at many studios in the neighborhood I grew up in, and many were cute but I was able to get this studio for $1,500 a month since I grew up here and knew the owner,” Jasmine begins.

"The best purchase I made was my Serena and lily chandelier. I actually purchased it through Facebook marketplace. I was able to get it for $100 and it retails for $2,000. It was one of my proudest and biggest deals," Jasmine describes.

“You can’t beat that price for San Francisco and the neighborhood I’m in. So it was a no-brainer, and it was the easiest move ever since my stuff were just down the hallway. This also allowed flexibility with the owner to allow me to make certain changes to the space that most renters wouldn’t be allowed to do.”

Jasmine has totally transformed this small space (you can see a before and after tour on her TikTok), including things like changing the floors and painting the cabinets in the kitchen, as well as adding molding and building a built-in corner mantel faux fireplace and TV area. But while the potential of the space has evolved the longer Jasmine has lived here, there is one particular benefit of the studio she noticed immediately.

“What first got my attention about this apartment was the huge walk-in closet. A lot of studios in San Francisco are tiny, and storage space can be the main struggle. This apartment had a walk-in closet that could almost be another bedroom. I’ve always wanted a walk-in to make getting ready easy,” Jasmine describes. Her huge walk-in closet isn’t just for getting ready, though; Jasmine was able to squeeze in a stylish home-office area, too.

"If my home was a sign it would be a Aries like me. Bold but also subtle. I really wanted my space to be a representation of me and my everyday life," Jasmine writes.

As far as the look and feel of her home, the details and neutral palette have a clear inspiration. “Another thing that caught my eye was the claw tub,” she writes. “I love Parisian design, and that just set the mood for my design.”
