Sarah's Simple Yet Stylish IKEA Hack 'n Stack TV Stand

I'm hesitant to label this a "hack", since it's really just two shelves stacked horizontally on top of one another. But the results of Sarah Quickel's IKEA project is undeniably useful for anyone lookin for an affordable HDTV TV stand with plenty room for components and some stylish lighting...

Sarah's description over at IKEAhackers:

I had two brown 5x1 Expedit Shelving units. I painted them white. Took out 2 shelves from each unit. I turned them horizontal and laid them flat on top of each other. I went to Home Depot and had a piece of MDF cut to size, which I stenciled and drilled holes in (for hiding av cables). I attached this to the back and voila! For added classiness... I installed IKEA under-cabinet lights on some of the shelves.

I especially like the addition of the back panel for not only hiding the cables and wires, but Sarah's addition of a wallpaper finish to add an element of style spotlighted by the under-cabinet lighting. The spacious shelving somehow makes each component seem like a stylish element rather than a bunch of black electronic boxes when illuminated as such!
