For the past 10 years, my go-to way of infusing my home with a festive scent has not been with a live Christmas tree or even with a holiday-themed candle. It’s actually been with a small but potent product that I recommend to everyone I know. And it’s on sale right now!

I first discovered ScentSicles Scented Ornaments years ago at Michaels, you can also order them online at Amazon. Each pack comes with six strongly scented ornament sticks that are … made of magic? That’s really the only way I know how to describe their smell. They smell so good and so real that just last week a friend walked in my house and immediately commented on how good my Christmas tree smelled. But it wasn’t the tree; it was my ScentSicles ornaments!

Each pack comes with six sticks (plus hanging hooks), and that pack could easily last you six years. The little green sticks tuck into your tree’s branches where they’re nearly invisible, and one ornament is plenty enough to make my living room smell festive all season. (Hot tip: If you start to notice the smell fading, simply move the ornament to another part of the tree or even consider “scratching” off a little bit of the ornament to “reactivate” the smell. I promise it’ll smell anew!)

I personally use the “White Winter Fir” scent, and it smells just like walking through a forest on a snowy winter day. It’s crisp and nature-inspired, and is somehow strong enough to last the whole season but not so strong that it’s cloying or fake-smelling. They have other scents, but I love this one that makes it feel like there’s a freshly cut tree in my living room. I love that it’s not a candle I have to keep burning for hours (we have a cat and I’m always nervous he’s going to knock a flame over.) And it personally smells much better to me than other artificial holiday-themed air fresheners.

The little green ornaments have fully become one of my favorite holiday traditions. I like to take a few whiffs to get into the holiday spirit as soon as I open our holiday decoration storage box, and then I ceremoniously hang the stick on a tree branch as the finishing touch.

ScentSicles have always been the perfect accent for the artificial Christmas tree I’ve decorated over the years, but I admit that I’m even using it on our live Christmas tree this year. It honestly smells better than the real thing. I just love sitting with some warm tea or hot cocoa next to my lit and decorated Christmas tree and feeling like I’m transported to a wintery wonderland through my sense of smell.

These little green ornaments might seem unassuming, but believe me when I say they pack a big punch. I honestly believe they help bring a little holiday cheer into my home. If you’re looking for an easy way to enhance your holiday decor and add a bit of a festive cheer to your home, these ornaments are a must-have. They’ve brought joy and nostalgia to my home for a decade, and I can’t imagine celebrating without them.
