The New “Sesame Street” LEGO Set Is a Colorful Walk Down Memory Lane
Sesame Street is arguably one of the most famous fictional streets in America, so it’s hard to believe that there’s never been a LEGO set inspired by its iconic brownstone and characters—that is, until now.
Fans of all ages took part in a vote, and at long last, the 123 Sesame Street Lego set is coming to life as part of the LEGO Ideas collection. The collaborative product, which officially launches Nov. 1, will include Bert and Ernie’s signature brownstone, Hooper’s Store, Big Bird’s nest, and Oscar the Grouch’s trash can. And of course, mini-figures of all the classic characters will be part of the package, too.
Longtime LEGO and “Sesame Street” fan Ivan Guerrero worked with LEGO to bring the fictional neighborhood to life. In a press release announcing the news, Guerrero said, “LEGO bricks and Sesame Street shaped both my childhood and adult years, and the opportunity to work with the LEGO Ideas team to bring this quintessential New York street to life has been thrilling.”
“Sesame Street” has been on the air for 50 seasons, and with legions of fans spanning multiple generations, Guerrero’s vision will bring a new life to the beloved cast of characters and the street.
“Knowing the impact ‘Sesame Street’ has had on the world for decades, sharing similar values with generations past and present, this felt like an exciting way to blend novelty with nostalgia, and pay homage to the truly iconic 123 Sesame Street through LEGO Ideas,” noted Federico Begher, VP of Global Marketing at The LEGO Group, in the press release.
The super-detailed 1,367-piece set will measure 9” high, 13.5” wide, and 8.2” deep, making it ideal for both adult and younger fans to build. You can do “the pigeon” with Bert, witness Oscar the Grouch pop out of his trash can, and enjoy a chocolatey snack (or two) while watching TV with Cookie Monster.
So mark your calendars for early November to snag 123 Sesame Street set in LEGO stores or add it to your online cart.
