Is there anything sexier than a girl who knows her way around a guitar? Or a guy who can write a song? I mean, really write a song? I have to admit, I’ve always crushed out on musicians, because apart from having enviable talent, they’re just cool. They tend to follow the beat of their own drum, sometimes to a fault. They also tend to live pretty colorful lives, and inhabit pretty intriguing bedrooms. Dig it.

Top Row:
1. Keith Richards bedroom at Villa Nellcôte during the recording of Exile on Mainstreet. The essence of every teen’s idea of what it is to be a rock star, right? Cool dude with guitar, beautiful ladies lounging about, a mansion, and some unmentionable goings on, just to keep it rock n’ roll.
2. David Bowie and Iman. The master bedroom at their villa in Mustique, featuring 19th-century Egyptian inspired furniture.
3. Johnny and June Carter Cash in their bedroom at their Hendersonville, TN. home.
4. Tom Waits during his early years (1975). The bedroom was part of “a hovel” of a place he rented.
5. Rihanna. Rihanna’s bedroom in her Beverly Hills home.

Second Row:
6. Elton John. Elton John and David Furnish’s 70’s-inspired bedroom in their Los Angeles residence.
7. Charlotte Gainsbourg, the daughter of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, in her bedroom.
8. Craig Finn from The Hold Steady. Finn wrote the music for his solo album “Clear Heart Full Eyes” at his bedroom desk.
9. Erykah Badu in her bedroom. Badu considers her Brooklyn apartment her “museum.”
10. Frank Sinatra. Sinatra’s bedroom at his Palm Springs compound, features shades of his favorite color, orange, and some meaningful possessions, including a statue of Saint Francis and a train set (who knew Sinatra would have a train set in his bedroom?!).

Third Row:
11. Kurt Cobain, photographed in his own bed.
12. Lady Gaga. Gaga’s bedroom in her rented Bel Air villa.
13. Slash from Guns n’ Roses. Slash’s velvet-ensconced bedroom in his Beverly Hills Mansion. George Costanza would approve.
14. Tess Wiley, musician and songwriter formerly of Sixpence None the Richer. Wiley’s bedroom at her flat in Germany.
15. Neko Case, solo performer and member of The New Pornographers. Case’s bedroom in her Vermont home features an Ikea duvet and Eileen Fisher blanket.

Bottom Row:
16. Michael Stipe and Thomas Dozol in their NYC apartment.
17. Beach House members Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally in Baltimore.
