Shine Labs Woodblock Clock

Shine Labs display booth at ICFF had several captivating and elegant pendant lamps (our favourite was the ill-named Opium Pendant) on display, including a trio of LED task lamps. Yet it was something a bit more natural in appearance that held our attention long enough to ask for demonstration: the Sonic Woodblock Clock.

Shown in both Natural Birch and the more striated Cassia Siamea finish, the Sonic Woodblock Clock is the streamlined update to Shine Labs' Sonic Classic Woodblock Clock (which looks a little bit like a Tivoli radio stretched wide). Altogether, they looked like logs of wood ready for campfire.

Sales manager Craig Fenton was kind enough to hook up his iPhone to the stereo input, giving us firsthand experience of the sound that emanated from the dual speaker internally powered speakers. It wasn't an audiophile performance, but well within the realm of reason for what would make a handsome bedside clock. Not to mention the 1" LED time display shining through the wood is pretty cool in itself. The clock includes:

  • 12/24 hour time format
  • date
  • alarm with 6-cycle snooze
  • night/economic power mode (LED dims automatically between 6pm-7am)
  • compatible with iPod, MP3, MP4, CD player, PC, or laptop
  • available in Natural Birch or Cassia Siamea

Available for $89.95 at Chichi Home (Shine Labs offers direct sales also via their currently in-progress sales site).
