Grove is a design collective based in Portland, OR that is dedicated to creating products that bring art into your everyday life. Their first product is a bamboo iPhone case engraved with designs from their artist series or a custom design of your choosing. Clever packaging is made from bamboo left over from the carving process and is intended to be used as a picture frame after un-boxing.

Grove is led by Joe Mansfield of engrave and Ken Tomita of TomitaDesigns. Their team of 5 takes prided in making everything themselves (aside from growing the bamboo and mining the aluminum!) in Portland, OR. Their standards are high to say the least. We stopped by their spacious headquarters and got to watch some of the engraving magic happen. The precision involved with the laser engraving is remarkable. It looks great with all three tones of bamboo they've chosen to make the cases from. The artist series is growing and currently has designs by Nando Costa, Option-G, and Christopher Bettig to name a few. You can also get a case customized with your own artwork. All elements of the packaging are FSC certified. You won't find any packing peanuts in your shipment, they use salvaged wood shavings as cushioning! We look forward to seeing what these talented designers have in mind for future products.

You can read more about another one of Joe's projects, Engrave Your Book: Reusable Leather Moleskin Covers, in a post we did last year.
