We often say that you should stick with neutral furniture and then drop in color with accessories. We're also fans of swapping out throw pillows and blankets to freshen up a home. If you stick with these maxims, you'll definitely want to check out Pyar & Co.'s colorful pillows and throws sourced from fair trade laborers in India.
Name/Title: Paula Queen/Founder
Launch date: The brand launched in August of 2011, and expanded to e-commerce in November 2012.
Inspiration for The inspiration of Pyar&Co. comes from my love for Indian textiles. I wanted to create a way in which the fabrics, the details and the overall artistry could be experienced in the everyday home. Initially, Pyar&Co. was only available only to Buyers and to the Trade. However, we continued to receive feedback from people asking for a way to purchase Pyar&Co., so we listened to those who wanted to become our customers! We took our site to the "next level" and added the shopping experience!
Merchandise All of our pieces are crafted by hand in India. Our pillows are done by hand by a mill in Calcutta. Our throws and table linens are done in Dehli. We are very proud to say that all of our work is done with laborers whose work is ethically sourced and is fair trade.
Best selling Our beststelling pillows are the Jild and the Peacock in Sea Green. However, our new throw, Tota, has become a big seller as well!
Your favorite The Tota throw! The colors in the color-block print are three of my favorite colors (it's just missing pink!). The color combination is a bit unexpected, yet you feel like you're watching a beautiful sunset! Plus, the pure softness of this throw works for everyone in the family!
Favorite store (other than your own): Bergdorf Goodman is my favorite of its scale. However, there are a number of stores that I love that are of various sizes. In all honesty...one of my all-time favorite stores is in Dehli, it is a trims and ribbon shop in Chandi Chowk Market. It is three stories high and barely more than 20 feet wide and it is filled with trims and ribbons! This store is where the idea of Pyar&Co really started to become real in my mind!!
