Fun, modern, and a great online presence.

This is what we are looking for in kids stores, and this is what we found at Romp, a Brooklyn-based store with a good online catalog.

We like the philosophy behind Romp's collections; they carry the kinds of toys that help children learn through open-ended play, and their home products are chosen to help integrate kids' stuff and gear into adult apartment life without compromising on style or fun. Sounds like a good idea to us!

Below are just a few of our favourite items from Romp.

We love the Fundy Table, which is made by Argington. And (hint, hint) you know that Argington is sponsering the Smallest, Coolest Nursery Contest, where a few lucky people are going to win gift certificates for the Argington products of their choice.

Stainless steel wall decorations by Toord Boontje. Self Sticking, in bird (above, $25.00), and also iris or daisy, $30.00.

Bring the outdoors inside with these wallpaper trees by inke heiland. Each tree comes with 63 leaves in differing patterns - that pink, above, is from the May Tree pictured at the right, while the tree on the far left is the March Tree. $295.00

We have never been to the bricks-and-mortar version of Romp, but we are big fans of their online catalog, so don't feel like you are missing out if you are outside of the Brooklyn area. Prices are good and their stock is well edited for the modern apartment.
