Looking for something different for the kids (big or small) in your life? Shawnimals are designed and made here in Chicago.

These are 100% artist-made goodies. They are not made in a factory but in a workshop, which according to the site, has a "variety of sewing machines, fabric swatches, applique pieces and lots and lots of linty dust bunnies". Started in 2001 by Shawn Smith, the plush toys are just the start.

Here are the cuties: moustachios, stinky cloves and lonely dollops ($20-25). A very cute ninja is made from vinyl ($45). Stumpy the Bear Cub Jr. ($30) comes along with a signed tag and special Stumpy Jr. drawing (for the first 50 orders).

Artwork such as "i dream of gumdrops" (above, $85.) are also available and would be pretty amazing for a modern nursery.

The Shawnimals merchandise includes stickers, greeting cards and buttons ($3 - 8). We like the online fun stuff like desktop images and buddy icons that are available to brighten up your screen.

Available online from Shawnimals, locally at Rotofugi and at all of these places, too.
