Slab-Lab Concrete Studio: Countertops, Sinks and more

If you're renovating and love the modern, industrial look of concrete countertops it's best to stick with a shop that specializes in concrete. Boston AT readers are in luck — Slab-Lab Concrete Studio is a local artisan shop that casts concrete into countertops, sinks, and just about anything you want. Because concrete is poured and not cut, Slab-Lab can make it as thick as you want, and can even embed stones, metal, or found objects to create designs that not only match your space, but reflect your personality...

In addition to his years of working with concrete, we love that Slab-Lab's founder Eric is also an artist with a background in music, video and graphic design — so his creative input and ideas aren't restricted to how counters or sinks "typically" look. It's particularly inspiring to see that Slab-Lab can carve custom designs such as drain boards directly into the concrete, and even inset metal objects to create a spot for placing hot pans directly on your workspace. They can also inlay glass and seashells, as well as make the concrete have finishes from smooth and watery, acid-stained, or a more common "sand" look. And you can choose just about any color for the concrete (they even color-match).
