Store History

  • Founded by: Terry Ledford
  • Headquarters: Andersonville
  • Sister stores: Bucktown

Since we last profiled Andersonville's White Attic in 2006, a lot has changed. They've opened a Bucktown location and introduced the "Lamp Bar," where you can have lighting made to order.

Despite the upgrades, their core mission remains: to revive vintage furniture through refinishing, repainting, and restyling each piece. Owner Terry Ledford continues to scout for the shop's dressers, tables, and chairs, while the White Attic team updates Terry's finds using low-VOC paints and varnishes.

Collections and colors are rotated seasonally. Right now, there's a lot of turquoise, lavender, and (as always) white on the floor. The original pieces generally come from the first half of the 20th century—styles tend to be classic and simple.

We also had fun checking out the Lamp Bar on our last visit. Customers can pick and choose from 17 ceramic bases, 30 colors, and 100 fabric shade options.

The White Attic has a website, but they don't sell anything online. You have to call or visit the store in-person to buy.
