We like to think our cat is as style-conscious as we are. Seattle-based Urban Beast caters to that fantasy with a bright, cheerful pet boutique in a new development across from REI. While plenty of their stock comes from Italian design firm United Pets, the friendly staff make a particular effort to source locally-made and eco-friendly products such as Marmalade pet care's Cheeky Chaise.

Owner Katie Rockwell had been in visual merchandising for 17 years before opening Urban Beast last year, and it shows in the store's thoughtful and appealing design. She met nutrition and behavior specialist Julie Forbes at a dog behavior class and brought her on staff to help customers find high-quality, natural food and treats for their animals. Calee's Kitty Brittlle and Wildside Salmon are two of the kitty snacks Urban Beast carries that are made by local companies.

Urban Beast supplies products for both dogs and cats. While this Seattle location is the boutique's first and only, plans are in the works to expand online and to stores further afield.
