A greener computer. Carl Foner, Verdant Computing's founder, admits this is not an easy task. Nothing about a computer is green, from their manufacturing techniques to the lack of proper recycling. But Carl wants a greener PC, and he knows he's not alone. He founded Verdant Computing to help himself and others make eco-friendly choices, and show the industry that there is indeed a market for greener technology.

What does Verdant Computing offer and how exactly do they choose their products? That's what we wanted to know.

Carl makes his intentions clear with the many articles he's written on a variety of topics, including his ideal green PC.

He's studied all of the industry standards, like EPEAT, Energy Star, and RoHS, as well as adding a few of his own. Some of his favorite discoveries were the GreenDisk line of reused and recycled products, and the GreenPrint software that allows you to print with less waste.

As for products, what we've found is a well-edited, and conscientious selection of products that have not only been endorsed by Verdant Computing, but industry standards as well. The green icons allow us to easily see what criteria the products satisfy, and we can search through the inventory by our favored green criteria. But products are really just half of the story at Verdant Computing, what we really like is the educated and informed choices we can make. We're happy to discover companies that are just as concerned as we are about making better choices. With Verdant's effort to help their customers make more informed choices, they've raised the bar.
