Too often, architecture firm portfolios are kind of a let-down. After all the work that went into the creation of space, all the attention given to the way a window frames a view, the firm's final photos show a stark, empty building that doesn't say much about the people who made it or the people who use it. Pulltab Architecture, on the other hand, has an ability to create space that feels warm, welcoming, and modern — all at the same time.

Founded by principals Jon Handley and Melissa Baker, Pulltab's work is concentrated mostly in Manhattan. The New York Times profiled their modern East Village Split-Level and Metropolis covered their East Village Roof Garden.

Details like indoor vertical gardens, slatted window screens, and warm wood built-ins make the spaces more interesting than your basic white box. In addition to residential and commercial architecture, Pulltab designs furniture.
