We all have problems with wires. In a perfect world, everything would be unplggd, but since we can't have that yet, we have to find other solutions to manage the mess of wires that are found underneath each and every desk. The Side Wired Desk is a solution to the mess of cables lurking under desks. It enables you to use the desk as an electrical hub to plug in a bunch of other stuff.

This desk is the brainchild of TMRnyc, which has submitted this table to the Blkyn Designs 2009 fair. The Side Wired Desk is a concept that came out of the designer's desire to find some kind of order in the madness of cords and plugs that litter the undersides of our work desks. You constantly need to plug things in and out, making the whole process a chore. There is also the frustration of searching for a free plug.

Why can't I just plug this into my desk? Why can't I just plug my desk into the wall with one cord and neatly plug in all of my other gear into the desk.

The design was challenging. Out of it came a great looking desk that incorporates a hidden cable management system as well as a power source, making it easy and fast to plug new gadgets in and out. The wire grommets have become part of the design. There is also a hinged tray to manage cables, which can also hold hard drives and other corded gadgets that usually clutter desks. This original and interesting product is really great for managing the mess of cables that we all have around our desks. [via core77, images by TMRnyc]
