Earlier this summer, we visited Javier & Ana's Cultivated & Relaxed Valencia Apartment, which gave our readers tiled floor envy for days! Today, we take a look at Simple, Javier Ferrer's decoration and gift store.

Aptly named, this charming downtown store offers a comforting collection of unassuming home goods in natural materials like ceramic, wicker, and leather. Drawing inspiration from traditional small town convenience stores, it houses everything from baskets, toys, and blankets to cleaning products and cosmetics. With its deep appreciation for artisanal, time-tested products, Simple is the perfect antidote to the stereotypical chain-manufactured souvenir store.

Name/Title: Javier Ferrer/Simple

Location: Valencia, Spain

Launch date: 2013

Inspiration for opening: Simple came from the idea of creating a store where the traveler could find authentic gifts from our country to bring back home. I was inspired by the simplicity and honesty of handmade products, by their cultural richness. I was also inspired by brands and products that have accompanied several generations, by their added emotional value.

Merchandise source: The products are all sourced from different parts of Spain. Our idea is to gather artisanal and traditional products that are part of our identity and give them the recognition they deserve for having stood the test of time. Also, we want to prove wrong the notion that imported goods are always better. That is simply not always the case.

Best selling item: Black ceramic swallows, wicker donkey heads, and merino wool blankets.

Your favorite item: Botijos. They are traditional clay containers for water. Thanks to the clay's porousness, they act as natural coolers for the liquid inside.

Favorite stores (other than your own): Merci in Paris. Labour and Wait in London. DIM in Berlin. A Vida Portuguesa in Porto and Lisbon. La A, Última Parada, and Jaime Beriestain Concept Store in Barcelona. Doméstico in Santander.
