072409-paper01.jpgThough we're slowly trying to wean ourselves off magazines we still get a bunch. We share them with friends or drop them off at doctor's offices and, of course, recycle them. So, when we came across these three crafting ideas over on Craft Stylish that make use of old magazines, we were ecstatic...

Trash Can: Who couldn't use cool trash can? While we wouldn't use it in a place where it might encounter liquids, it'd be great in an office where it'd mostly hold paper recycling. And, when you get tired of the old design, peel off the pages to expose a new one. For detailed directions, click here.
Magazine Reed Box: Roll up magazine pages to make skinny reeds that you can use to cover a box. They can also be used to cover picture frames, trays or to make jewelry. Feeling super ambitious? Apply them to a wall or a piece of furniture. Leave them as is or paint them. Get the details here
Abstract Art: For inexpensive party decorations, to add texture to an otherwise blank wall, marching around the top edge of a plain room or hung together in a bunch as a cool art installation, few people will realize that these objects started off life as magazines and catalogues. Do you still get magazines? What do you do with the old ones?
