Sit On It: Using a Sweater to Cover a Chair Seat

As I was putting away summer clothes and pulling out the winter wear I came across some sweaters from last season that won't be making an encore appearance this year. I've started contemplating how I'll recycle these sweaters. Pillows? Mittens? Lampshade? Then I saw these chairs during a house tour photo shoot over the weekend and I think I have my next DIY project utilizing my old knitwear.

We've covered a few ways to recycle sweaters on Apartment Therapy and we even touched on the concept of using them as seats here on Re-Nest.

Theresa used an old gray wool sweater to recover the seats of her dining chairs. She opted to attach the sweaters to the seat of the chair using spray adhesive. Because the sweater is a loose knit, staples may have let the sweater stretch too much or possibly snag it.

I love the texture that the sweater adds to these otherwise simple chairs and the dark gray is a nice complement to the blond wood.
