Skellie Bunnies

Skellie Bunnies

Many of you coveted these adorable bunnies after seeing them in Sonny's nursery tour. We've tracked down Theresa, their creator, and found out that not only is she selling them in her Etsy shop, but you can even request custom colors -- or send in your own fabric -- at no extra cost!

We just had to know what prompted Theresa to create these (admittedly unusual) plushies. When we asked, we learned that Skellie Bunnies were born when Theresa got an unusual request from Sonny's mom:

Tina wanted to have some Día de los Muertos items. After she told friends this, the common response was 'That's kinda morbid don't you think?' While my response was, 'Well I think that's a great idea as Día de los Muertos celebrations are colorful and generally celebrate the life of those that have passed' (but then again my brain is broken so it all makes sense). So began my quest to create a cute baby 'appropriate' (cringe) Día de los Muertos something.

Tina likes bunnies so I used that as my starting point. From looking around craftster Skellie Bunnies were born. I decided to take skeleton bits and slap them onto a bunny body. Nothing says cute like undead bunnies, right? ;-D So there you have it a simple request manifested into plushie cuteness! Enjoy!

We do!
