Before and After: A Big Change for a Teeny Tiny Narrow Bathroom
This bathroom was described as “pretty bare and utilitarian,” but since it’s a rental, the options for enlivening it were limited. Fortunately, the clever renter came up with a solution that both highlights the room’s lovely details and ensures the swift return of the security deposit.
This is perhaps the highest impact per square foot wallpaper job that we’ve ever seen. In my opinion, this is the perfect application of wallpaper: The space is very small, so you don’t need to buy much, but it completely changes the room and creates a statement wall. To be fair, there was some finicky cutting to do around the window that I’m sure was a pain, but those narrow strips set off the window so nicely and actually help emphasize the details of the frame. Design Confetti braved the removable wallpaper application process and emerged victorious.
Another advantage to this makeover: The bold and intricate wallpaper draws the eye firmly upward, away from toilet. This photo also emphasizes the room’s narrowness and high ceilings, showing that there’s a decent amount of wallpaper above the window, and that the wallpaper itself helps highlight the room’s height.
The peel-and—stick wallpaper is from Target and was $29.99 for 27.5 square feet. Definitely check out the zoom view—I thought this wallpaper was great but a closer look reveals fascinating hues and intricacies.
As a bonus, Design Confetti also wallpapered the opposite wall, providing a bit of beauty to admire on your way out the door (or whilst seated, of course). The vintage quality of the wallpaper works so well with the bathroom’s interesting, old-fashioned sconces and chair rail. Its delicate pattern doesn’t overwhelm those features, and its bright colors set off all of the white details of the lights and moulding.
