Project by: Natasa Dobrinic
Location: Zagreb, Republic of Croatia
From the designer: The one bedroom apartment located in Zagreb was customized to fit a young couple. Lack of closet space was addressed by turning the pantry, conveniently located between the kitchen and the bedroom, into a bedroom closet as well as a kitchen niche for a fridge and open shelving.
The primary concern for the designer was to maximize the space of the 540 square feet apartment. Therefore, the living room shelving unit extends from floor to ceiling across an entire wall which makes a room feel bigger. The same effect was achieved by using reflective surfaces as much as possible (closet fronts, wallpaper etc.).
One of the biggest challenges was to furnish the 110 square feet bedroom without making it look cluttered. What came in handy were the Plexiglas transparent nightstands, completely unobtrusive to the eye and fully functional. The overall aesthetic was successfully enriched by a touch of marble, fine cotton roman blinds, teak decking and gorgeous wallpaper. The idea is: choose focal items and splurge!
Thanks, Natasa Dobrinic!
