Small Space Solution: Reflective Finishes

Small Space Solution: Reflective Finishes

We often hear about mirrors as a way to reflect light in small spaces, but when you need something less than the "window effect," reflective surfaces on walls, floors, and furnishings can be a subtler way to expand the sense of space…

Options range from a large expanse, like a glossy wall or floor, to smaller accent pieces like lamps or tables. An accent wall, painted in a high-gloss hue, can have a similar impact while adding some color.

One thing to keep in mind is that reflective finishes highlight any flaws in a surface. If your floors or walls are full of bumps and scratches, high-gloss paint can draw attention to the imperfections, and you may want to stick to glossy furnishings.
