Small-Space Inspiration: Im and David Schafer's Loft

Im and David Schafer's loft has always been one of our favorite homes ever profiled in the pages of Dwell. But did you know they first showed up here on Apartment Therapy in our 2006 Small Cool Contest? And they're also featured in our book. So when we saw their home on Dwell's homepage again yesterday, we realized we'd never blogged it here. In case you haven't seen it yet, it's 426 square-feet of small space inspiration.

Im and David Schafer's home is a downtown loft in a mixed-use redevelopment project in downtown San Diego. When the two moved in together, they were challenged to creatively adapt the space to accommodate all of their stuff.

Whether you like their aesthetic choices or not, it's hard to argue that they aren't innovative in their design choices. From their storage solutions, to their sleeping loft, to their creative use of furniture and surfaces—they've made the space work in unusual and inspiring ways.

If you're curious, check out a slideshow of their amazing home.
