Smock Makes Gift Giving Beautiful

For gift giving, go beyond the department store box and recycled brown kraft. Sometimes the packaging should be just as thoughtful and whimsical as the gift itself — and Smock makes gift giving beautiful with its holiday collection of wrapping options, from boxes and bags to cards and tags.

Smock operates 20 antique presses out of an old John Deere factory in upstate New York, and specializes in the tactile art of letterpress printing. It was the first print shop in the U.S. to offer printing on environmentally conscious bamboo paper, which it developed with a historic European paper mill.

A truly green, pesticide-free and renewable resource, bamboo fiber offers a luxuriously thick and elegantly textured surface for letterpress. The artisan paper gives the company's bold and graphical line of holiday cards a special touch — literally.

With a colorful array of design themes like Merry, Mistletoe and Igloo, you can choose from letterpressed gift tags and greeting cards, as well as coordinated gift boxes and reversible wrapping paper. The latter offerings are offset printed on acid-free, 100% post-consumer recycled paper.

The Smock shop is sustainable in other ways, too. It is fully wind-powered and believes in doing good for the environment, from using vegetable-based, low-VOC inks to subsidizing Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) memberships for employees, among many other eco-minded practices.
