Sofa Separation Anxiety

Sofa Separation Anxiety

We're finally getting a new sofa. It needed to happen. Our old couch is threadbare, with the padding showing through in two spots. Really, we should have gotten a new couch six months ago, but we've been suffering from sofa separation anxiety.

We looked into reupholstering our old sofa...too expensive. We researched DIY reupholstery and eventually realized we would drive ourselves insane trying to re-web the springs and sew new cording. A couple of weeks ago, the in-laws said they would buy us a new sofa as a wedding gift, so we took them up on their generous offer.

We settled on the Case Study Day Bed from Design Within Reach (bought on sale). It's comfortable, works as a bed for overnight guests, and if we ever needed to give it some DIY-reupholstery, it would be a managable task. We're looking forward to welcoming our new sofa into our home, but we can't help but feel some pangs of guilt. We'll miss our old couch.
