This Homebody’s Las Vegas Home Is a Softly Textured, Neutral Retreat from the City’s Neon Energy

Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: My husband and I got married just before he started his career in the Air Force (almost four years ago, but it feels like four minutes!) It’s just us two for now, so this space is the perfect size!

We moved mid-pandemic (ugh), so the second bedroom was much desired as a WFH spot and a place for all my books. We both have fairly large families that we love, and the thought of them stuffed into my living room for game night someday is getting me through.

As a hopeless homebody, my apartment is designed around quiet coffee mornings and cozy nights tucked in with a book.

This city is all late-night neon energy, which is fun on a Friday night, but this little place is our reprieve. I gravitate toward soft textures and neutrals, which I find restful. There are always lots of lamps and candles tucked here and there for that evening glow.

What is your favorite room and why? My office/the guest bedroom gets the most light in the whole apartment, especially in the morning. When I sit down with a full cup of hot coffee and the room is just glowing with that buttery desert sunlight, it really gives me the energy to start the day.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Cozy, classic, book-filled, and French-inspired

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? I ordered a few yards of block print fabric from India to reupholster my dining chairs. They came just before I submitted this [house call] and they’re absolutely stunning. I’ve always been inspired by colors and patterns from India!

Any advice for creating a home you love? Being married to someone in the military means moving frequently, and not always to your dream location. My whole philosophy on homemaking centers on the fact that you don’t have to be in your dream home to make your home dreamy.
