Nearly 90 percent of Americans think that solar electricity should be an option for all new home construction, up significantly from one year ago (79 percent). Three-quarters perceive solar power to be more important than ever, evidence that Americans recognize the value of solar as a clean, renewable form of energy. The survey was conducted in May of this year among 1,004 adults to measure their perceptions of solar power and was commissioned by Sharp Electronics Corporation.
We think the above -- direct from the source -- is great news.

Is it time to add solar to your home? More resources after the jump...

Three things to know about solar:
• Questions about how solar works? Check out this comprehesive FAQ courtesy of GE Energy.
• In addition to the new federal tax credit, many states have additional incentives for solar installation: Oregon's are some of the most generous, offering up to $10,000. A good installer will be able to clearly explain which incentives apply to you.
• Solar can work on a cloudy day! In fact, overheated panels become less efficient, so solar can work for you even if it's not always sunny where you live.
