In most homes, people either gather in the kitchen or the living room so make them welcoming. You can pick up furniture essentials like sofas, dining tables and more on the Apartment Therapy Marketplace for less than $500. Because I know a good deal when I see one, I’ve scoured the latest listings to bring you a few items that’d save you money as well as those worth the splurge.

Splurge: Vintage Butcher Block Table in Chicago (shown above)

Not all butcher block tables are created equal but this vintage butcher block table is worth its hefty price. Constructed with steel legs and steel rods that run through the 3-inch thick tabletop, there’s no doubt it can handle anything you throw at it. The wood inlayed on the ends gives it a polished appearance. Available on Apartment Therapy Marketplace, $500.

Save: Pedestal Dining Table in San Francisco

Squeeze a few more seats around this pedestal dining table and you’ve got yourself a dinner party. Made of solid wood and painted a whimsical lilac hue, the 48-inch table is originally from Pottery Barn. You’d be hard-pressed to find a new table that comfortably (and more intimately) sits six for a Ben Franklin. Available on Apartment Therapy Marketplace, $100.

Steal: Mid-Century Danish Sectional in New York City

Don’t let first impressions fool you, this Danish sectional has some good bones. Sure the cushions need substantial work but this listing is a real steal. The frame is in solid condition and you can use the rest of your budget on new foam cushions. Use this multi-functional seating as either one 98-inch-long sofa or as two sectionals. Available on Apartment Therapy Marketplace, $350.
