Spring Fever: At Home with Floral Patterns

Spring Fever: At Home with Floral Patterns

Spring has always been my favorite season, but DC really brings it in full force with an abundance of beautiful flowering trees. While the cherry blossoms currently are working their pink magic outdoors, there are lots of ways to make even a touch of floral work in your home.

Floral patterns can sometimes be written off as outdated and frou frou, but I'm of the mindset that there are even more ways for them to add interest, color, and texture. They can be soft and feminine as in Image 2 or bold and graphic like the Marimekko fabrics in Images 4 and 8. While they look beautiful as a high-impact wall covering (Images 2, 5, and 6), even a small dose will add a little softness and color (Images 7, 9, and 10). I also have a soft spot for vintage-style flower prints, as in Lisa Stickley's bedding (Image 3) and the pillows in the last two images.
