Spruce Up Your Dining Room Furniture with Paint: 2 Ways

Maybe your dining room could use a little extra pizzazz. But you don't want to buy new furniture. We've got some ideas to liven things up, and all you need is a little paint and a little bit of time.

Same Chairs, Different Colors
If you already own a matching set of chairs but want to inject a little color into the proceedings, why not paint them all different colors? We're loving the ombre look of the Thonet bentwood chairs in the dining room at the top of this post.

Different Chairs, Same Color
Conversely, painting a bunch of dissimilar chairs the same color is a great way to achieve cohesiveness, and put the focus on the shapes of the different chairs. This is a great budget option, since you don't have to find a matched set of chairs -- you can gather chairs from all over and make them a matched set. We happen to think this looks especially slick in glossy (image 3) or matte (image 5) black.
