Stash a Guitar Amp Stylishly with IKEA Expedit

The life of a musician is rough. I mean, the groupies and the travel sounds awesome. But storing all of that big, heavy & expensive gear when you get home? That's rough. We can only hope that your next world tour takes you through an IKEA-equipped city. That way, you'll be able to try out this IKEA-hacked portable guitar amp storage.

Using a small, 4-unit Expedit shelf, one enterprising IKEA Hacker created this rolling guitar amp storage unit.

All you need? An Expedit bookcase ($39.99, IKEA), a pack of RILL casters ($9.99 for a 4-pack, IKEA), and a little bit of ingenuity.

Oh, and a guitar amp. You're going to need a guitar amp:

Here's my hack : - Assemble the outside square of the Expedit shelf - Throw away the little separators and keep the big one - Fix the squares to the desired height and put on the shelf you keep from the previous point - Fix the four wheels with an electric screwdriver and voila!

To this tone-deaf blogger, it seems like a great way to keep your music equipment tidy and accessible. You could even add some DIY cord control solutions.

Any musicians out there? Let us know what you think in the comments!
