Staycation: Hire A Cleaning Lady

If you don't have the money to take a real vacation this year, or you're taking one, but in the meantime you really need a break, consider this: if you normally clean the house yourself, hire someone to clean your home just this once:

Give yourself a break from the rituals and habits or cleaning it yourself. It can be such a luxury to come home from work to clean sheets, a spotless kitchen and an even cleaner bathroom and know that you didn't have to do it yourself. Considering that if you live in a small apartment you'll be able to get it cleaned top to bottom for less than $100, it's well worth it for the peace of mind. Plus it will free up your time to do other things: like sleep, read in bed until noon, flip through magazines or even, gasp, leave the house and go to a museum you've been meaning to check out or meet up with friends.

August is all about relaxing and sinking into the final month of summer. Freeing yourself of household duties for a week is a great way to give yourself a vacation without having to leave the house or spend a lot of money (that is if you don't clean the house before they come to clean your house). We recommend Good Maids from personal experience when we really needed it. If you're still not sold on the idea of having someone else clean (could it be guilt?), then check out what grace had to say about hiring a cleaning lady.
