Lately it seems like everyone, myself included, can't stop talking about Downton Abbey. Every week I wait expectantly for Sunday. I don't want to miss a minute of the drama, the romance, the betrayals - or the furniture.

I like to think of Downton Abbey as a sort of extended Apartment Therapy house tour, where we get to know the inhabitants very well. Sometimes I'll rewind, not to catch a line I missed, but to get a better look at the interiors. Even though my style tends to run a bit more modern, I confess to having occasional pangs of jealousy - "why can't my house look like that?".

One of my favorite rooms in the house, dead Turkish diplomats notwithstanding, is Lady Mary's bedroom. It's a bit like Lady Mary - elegant and serene, but with lots of interesting things going on. For this post, I set out to re-create Lady Mary's room using modern sources. I've created two inspiration boards: an 'upstairs' version, and one with 'downstairs' prices that are a little more within the reach of us commoners.

Upstairs:
Gilt Mirror: Ethan Allen, $1,479
Wallpaper: Farrow & Ball, $285/roll
Cupid Sconce: Vintage Hardware and Lighting, $1,285
Canopy Bed: Cymax, $3,449
Writing Desk: 1stDibs, $3,500
Chair: Theodore Alexander, price upon request.

Downstairs:
Wallpaper, Graham & Brown, $75/roll
Four Poster Bed, Amazon.com, $599
Lampshade, Lamps Plus, $40
Tea Table, Amazon.com, $19
Vintage Photographs, Etsy, prices vary
Bergere Chair, Ballard Designs, $599
Oriental Rug, Wayfair, $280
