I have just come to accept that I am one of those people who has too much stuff. It’s been a lifelong problem, and as I’ve downsized my apartment, it’s only become more chronic. I swear I donate garbage bags full of clothes and bedding, but my closet is still overflowing. I’ve had my current under-bed storage bags for more than a decade and I decided that it was time for an upgrade.

My giant Ziploc totes are a little too tall for my boyfriend’s extremely low bed frame. I had managed to stuff them under, but it wasn’t the smartest storage solution. While smushed, they had spread out to take up most of the valuable under-bed space I desperately needed to access.

I went on a little Amazon deep-dive to find under-bed bins that were shorter than 8 inches and more stylish than my current options. I came across the StorageWorks Underbed Storage Bins, which come in a chic white option with brown handles and zippers and are only 5 inches tall. This color combination meshes well with the wooden IKEA bedframe we have. I also liked that the box has multiple handles, so it’s easy to grab and pull out.

These bins also have 1,149 reviews on Amazon and a 4.7-star average rating, so I felt pretty confident that these would be durable and good quality. “We live in a small space and with having a baby I ran out of room in his dresser for his bigger sizes,” an Amazon reviewer wrote. “I bought these in hope that I can store away his bigger clothes and bring them out as he grows. They worked perfectly! Durable but has some stretch so you can really pack the clothes in. It also fit under the bed which saves us so much space.”

I ordered the two-pack in size medium, which is a steal at only $33. I set up the bins within seconds — you just need to put the reinforced bottom piece in to get them to hold their shape. As a shopping editor for AT, I have way too much bedding, so I stuffed a few sheets sets and a winter blanket in one of the bins. I tend to overpack every organizer I come in contact with, just based on the fact that I live in an apartment with not a lot of storage space, and these bins held up despite me overfilling them. I used the other one for boots and high heels that I don’t normally wear. They had been previously living (unhappily, I imagine) at the bottom of my closet where they were getting trampled by other shoes and suitcases.

I love the way that these bins look — and I also love that despite their affordability, they don’t feel cheap. They’re allowing me to finally use the under-bed space in a productive way. I freed up some much-needed space in my closet and our under-bed area does not look like a nightmare anymore. They’re absolutely worth it.
