Snake plants are great low-maintenance plants. They also act as air purifiers to improve your home’s air quality. Here’s how to keep them happiest.

Choose a snake plant with dark green leaves. Darker leaves indicate that the plant is healthy. Paler leaves show that the plant is not doing well.

Snake plants do best when planted in a free-draining potting mix.

Select a terracotta pot with a drainage hole and saucer. It’s important to allow water to drain through the soil easily. Snake plants are prone to root rot.

Allow soil to dry in between waterings. When watering avoid getting the leaves wet.
