Jenessa Weaver’s 1977 kitchen had several not-so-fun ’70s details, and she was looking for a change. So she enlisted the help of designer, Alysha, to renovate the space.

From the mustard linoleum floors, laminate countertops, a huge fluorescent troffer light, and the "boob light," this kitchen was practically screaming for a makeover.

Although the kitchen was relatively spacious, it felt yellower and smaller than necessary thanks to the brown cabinetry, yellow floors, and low-hanging light.

The renovation vision?

Farmhouse charm — plus functionality.

Alysha brightened things up with timeless white paint, white subway tile backsplash, and off-white quartz counters.

She also removed the troffer light, allowing more room for taller cabinets that helped to elongate the space. For the upper cabinets, she used glass-front doors.

To make things feel lighter and airier, she also swapped out the top cabinets in the corner next to the stove with open shelving.

Meanwhile, the brown hardwood floors are a much more contemporary step into the future and help to anchor the space.
