Is there anything better than sitting outdoors on a cool summer night and throwing a warm blanket over yourself? We have countless childhood memories of sitting in the yard with our favorite blanket watching fireflies in the evening. Somehow, Denyse Schmidt's String Theory Quilt takes us back there. Still, our blanket was never this nice.

Designed from nearly 1000 scraps of fabric, the String Theory Quilt, available at Sundance, is a marriage of old and new. With all of her quilts, Schmidt successfully combines the traditional craft of quilting with modern bold colors, patterns and fabrics -- and this one is no exception. It's certainly a quilt that has the potential to become a treasured heirloom.
