As much as we'd love to one day live in a home with solar panels, the process seems daunting — complicated and expensive. Luckily, there's a Berkeley startup that's trying to change that...

Berkeley's Sungevity, is attempting to make solar panels easier to acquire by selling them online and using a software that makes the process cheaper and more straightforward. At Sungevity.com, you can type in your address and within 24 hours you'll receive a firm (and free) purchase and installation estimate.

Sungevity's software also streamlines the process of applying for all of those state and federal rebates.
