Although sun rooms are a common feature in a many old homes, you don't see them so much in modern design. Part of the reason is that larger windows and open floor plans can make a whole apartment into a sun room. A wall of windows in James and Rui's Prefab Paradise floods their small home with light. Kim's Evanston Oasis is filled with light throughout, but we really love this corner of her home. The yellow chair warms up the space even more.

Danny and Chris put a table and chairs in one of their home's sunniest spots. Well-lit nooks are the perfect place for a dining set or breakfast table.

Condos and apartments don't usually include additional sun rooms, but floor-to-ceiling windows can be found in many high-rise spaces. Light floods the living room in Jim and Derrick's Soft Loop Loft, making their main living space into a year-round sun room.

In Zoka's East Village House, light fills almost every space. Zoka designed the home herself with a layout that allows light to filter through the open staircases and ceiling skylights.

Kathryn has such a beautiful space, and her loft's open floor plan lets light from the three large windows fill her living room, kitchen, and dining room.

In Sage and Austin's Storefront, an entryway nook gets a lot of light. A low bench and an armchair make it into the perfect spot to sit and read.

Alex lined the windowsills with plants in his light-filled loft. Nurturing plants is a lot easier if they have good access to light and warmth.
