SURREALISTIKA Surreal Kitchen Sculpture by IKEA

Yesterday, IKEA designers revealed this unusual installation at an event called The Surreal House in London. Typical kitchen appliances come together in the shape of a silver birch tree, signifying the movement toward green concerns in kitchen design.

IKEA is sponsoring a talk in London about the future of kitchen design, and this sculpture definitely draws attention to the cause. Each branch of the tree features a different type of household device that is continuously being improved in more sustainable ways. You'll be able to visit this creation's nightmarish presence at Barbican Centre's Sculpture Court until August 22nd.
