Susan and her family recently took on a big reno project and she sent us photos and the link to some great before and after shots of their progress. She writes: "We recently moved from our duplex (condo) on the Near West side of Chicago into this row house a few blocks away in the "Tri-Taylor" neighborhood."
"We waited a YEAR to close on this short sale, and we got it for a steal. It's a row house built in 1899 but was converted into a 2-flat at some point and was very outdated. We deconverted it into a single family, and with the help of an AMAZING contractor, we were able to completely redo the house (restoring tons of it's original beauty such as the staircase, fireplace, and wood floors). The entire project cost us less than $25K, so we're ecstatic! We have 2 children with one on the way, so we're happy to have our first "real" home! And in a great Chicago neighborhood to boost!"
We've had amazing response to our Apartment Therapy House Tour Submission Form. While we will work with homeowners of our favorite homes to feature full tours, we will also share the best as House Calls — short, quick tours of readers' homes. Submit your home here.
