Fall is a much-beloved season — and for good reason! After a long hot summer, there is finally a cool nip in the air, inspiring cozy nights spent by the fire and soft sweaters reintroduced into your wardrobe. And everywhere you turn, you'll spot others diving headfirst into the season, hyping up fall fashion and reminding you that pumpkin spice everything is back on the menu.
While these are some of the many reasons I love fall, there is one thing that gives me pause: With the holidays looming, we all start to be a little more cautious of how much money we're spending. But there's good news: You can embrace all of the pleasures of the season without draining your bank account by trying these fun, festive and inexpensive ways to enjoy fall:
Friday Night Lights
Football games are a fall favorite for many sports fans, but NFL tickets can be pricey. You can enjoy a game of football, save some money and indulge in a little nostalgia by attending a local high school football game. Get in on the town spirit and support your local team by heading to a game with a few friends.
Master a Seasonal Recipe
As soon as the leaves start to change colors, decadent foods and drinks start popping up in restaurants and bakeries. Cure your cravings and save a lot of money by mastering your favorite fall recipes. Spend some time in the kitchen learning to make a spiced cider, pecan pie or decadent hot chocolate. That way you can indulge in your fall favorites all year long.
Take a Steamy Bubble Bath
Warm up a cool night by taking a relaxing, soothing bubble bath. Bring a little extra fall to your tub by choosing bath products in warm scents like vanilla, amber, pumpkin or cinnamon. Light a few candles in your favorite seasonal scents and let all the worries of your day slip away.
Hit Up the Library
Everyone always talks about beach reads, but is there anything truly better than curling up with a good book on a rainy day? Stop by your local library and stock up on some page turners to read on Sunday mornings when it is too chilly to get out of bed. Your book will be the perfect companion by toasty fires or while sipping pumpkin spice lattes at a coffee shop.
Savor the fresh air and beautiful fall colors by spending more time outside than you normally would. Take an early morning hike with a friend and enjoy the peace and quiet. Or spend a few hours in a park feeding ducks and watching the leaves fall. Focus on spending time with family and friends outdoors instead of at a pricey restaurant or on a debt inducing shopping trip. If you don't mind spending a little money on an outing, apple picking can be an inexpensive and frankly adorable way to enjoy the season.
