Tamara's Style Scouting: Subtle Intricacies and Modern Lines
To find some inspiration for my space, I went to some shops in my wonderful city of Asheville—known for its antiques and artist crafts. Here are some of my favorite finds of the day.
I like the textures of the throw, the chair, and the rug here, displayed at Shelter Collective. I want to feel cozy when I'm curled up on my sofa, so having a variety of textures in the space is definitely a goal.
I snapped this picture at my sister's house. I love the old patina and design of this door knob, particularly when contrasted against the white wood door in the background.
When it comes to antiques, my hoarder self thinks "I'll never find a piece like that again...it's so rare and unique," but alas, every time I go to an antique store I am reminded that there will always be beautiful treasures, even if I can't walk out the door with something that day. So on this trip, I was so happy to see not just one, not just two, but at least 6 different brass tray tea tables. Why I'm obsessed, I don't know. But I feel encouraged to know that the world has enough of them out there so that when I'm ready to buy one, they'll be there.
Who doesn't love a great mid-century modern piece? Simple lines in pieces like this dresser really help to make accessories and other objects stand out. I also am looking to bring in the warmth of wood into the space.
Lastly, I found this image on my memory card—a picture my sister took on a recent trip to LA—and added it to the mix. I love the color, the bright light, the arches, and the gold accents. Gorgeous.
That was fun! I'm loving my new space already, even if it's just a vision in my head.
